College Entrance Exam Information

Many colleges and universities will accept either the ACT or SAT exam. Please check with the individual schools to which you will be applying to find out which test they require or prefer.

Custer County District High School's code for both tests is 270610.

ACT - Registration packets and test preparation booklets are available in the DCHS Guidance Office. Students are also encouraged to register online at http://www.act.org.

ACT offers a 30-minute Writing Test as an optional component to the ACT. Students who register to take the ACT should take ACT Plus Writing.

Seniors should test no later than the December test in order to get their scores back in time to apply to their selected school(s). Juniors should take the ACT in the Spring for their Junior year.

PLAN – Practice test for ACT that all interested Sophomores and Juniors can take. This test is given in October; see Mr. McAuliffe for further details.

SAT - Test preparation booklets and regular registration packets are available in the DCHS Guidance Office. Online registration is strongly encouraged for the SAT. Students can register at http://www.collegeboard.org.

PSAT – Practice test for SAT that is given in October. This test is offered to the top 40 Juniors, 10 Sophomores. Other interested students can get on a list to take it. See Mr. Rapson for further Information.

ASVAB – Free and available to all Juniors and Seniors. Even students who aren’t interested in military can take as this will provide information on what their aptitudes are.
